A Record July! (For Some)

With all the doom and gloom around COVID-19 we wanted to share a happy story with you all.

Whisper this… but we have just seen a record July for many hotels! Yes that’s correct and something I’m sure we are seeing across many other UK hotels as hospitality has opened back up.

  • Hotel A in Perthshire: Google Ads ROI of 44:1

  • Hotel B in North East Scotland: Google Ads ROI of 22:1

  • Hotel C in Edinburgh: Google Ads ROI of 50:1

All of these clients have certain things in common:

  • They offer a good product

  • They are located in countryside/rural locations or on the edge of a city

  • They have ramped up their online advertising spend

Let’s examine these in a little more detail…

Product

Everyone knows how beautiful a place the UK is but often we go overseas for sun. Weather is obviously out of our control but we can ensure the guest experience is the best it can be. This ranges from the cost, staff greeting, levels of service to décor and if this all comes together, the experience is a happy one.

Location

With restrictions on social distancing, countryside and non-city centre locations were always going to be the most popular with lots of open spaces and things to do. With city centres coming back more slowly, rural hotels have sky rocketed and this has made for record revenue levels. However we are seeing some cities bounce back and record months are not far away for those hotels.
